I'm privileged to be a 20-year member and former Chapter President of this incredible women's service organization with Chapters across the US and Canada. EWI fosters networking, professional development and community involvement, with a philanthropic focus on literacy in our Chapter cities. At this meeting to recap our local literacy program and host a book exchange, the Chapter invited me to share my experiences as an author and read from my published writing. Truly a special evening with a unique group of smart, accomplished (and fun!) women.

Annual Anthology Author's Reading ~ June 29, 2026

What a thrill to have a short story selected for publication in SDWI's annual print anthology A Year In Ink. My story was one of only 14 fiction pieces chosen from 380 submissions across fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Authors were invited to gather at the beautiful Mingei Museum in Balboa Park for a reading of our work. A memorable night in the company of inspirational literary talent. I was so impressed by the caliber of the contributions and the quality of the publication that I joined the organization.

Annual Short Story Awards ~ May 12, 2026

This is my third year as a Top Ten Finalist in this short story contest sponsored by The Friends of the San Diego Central Library. In 2023, I won the First Place prize. This year I won Third Place. As a special feature of the program, the winning stories are brought to life by talented actors from Write Out Loud, a local performing arts company. At the end of the reading of my story, the actress wiped away tears -- and so did I. Unforgettable.

Author Panel & Anthology Cover Reveal ~ January 15, 2025

This live Zoom event was hosted by Colin Mustful, the founder of the independent press History Through Fiction, to reveal the cover of their first print anthology "An End of Troubles," and to feature a Q&A with the 10 authors selected for publication in the anthology.
It was an honor to place as a Top 10 winner in History Through Fiction's second annual short story contest and to be awarded publication for my WWI-era suspense story "The Blood Stone of Shiva." I enjoyed getting to know my fellow authors, sharing our creative processes, and learning what inspired our historical writing.
