I'm privileged to be a member of this incredible women's service organization with Chapters across the US and Canada. EWI fosters professional development, networking, and community involvement, with a primary philanthropic focus on literacy in our Chapter cities. At this meeting -- a program held to recap our local literacy program and host a book exchange -- the Chapter invited me to share my experiences as an author and read from my published writing. Truly a special evening with a unique group of smart, accomplished (and fun!) women.

Annual Anthology Author's Reading ~ June 29, 2026

What a thrill to have a short story selected for publication in SDWI's annual print anthology. My story was one of only 14 fiction pieces chosen from 380 submissions across fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Authors were invited to gather at the beautiful Mingei Museum in Balboa Park for a reading of our work. A memorable night in the company of inspirational literary talent. I was so impressed by the caliber of the contributions and the quality of the publication that I joined the organization.

Annual Short Story Awards ~ May 12, 2026

This is my third year as a Top Ten Finalist in this short story contest sponsored by The Friends of the San Diego Central Library. In 2023, I won First Place. This year I won a Third Place prize. A special treat during the program is hearing the winning stories brought to life by incredible actors from the local Write Out Loud organization. At the end of the reading of my story, the actress wiped away tears -- and so did I. Unforgettable.
